Is there a minimum amount of money ou have to make to be eligible for income taxes?

I just started my first job, I'm 17, and I heard that if you make under a certain amount a month you can be paid in cash and you don't have to worry about income taxes. Is this true? How do I figure what my income taxes will be if I do have to pay them and how would I figure out what my tax refund will be when I do my taxes?
